HPM Service Item Generator |
|
|
|
|
Have you ever wished that you could allocate costs of your Cardiac Surgery service Liine or your Orthopedics service line just to those patients? That you could find a way to allocate Trauma Service costs just to trauma patients? How about ensuring that exact implants costs get to the right patients, instead of a "Miscellaneous" charge code. Unless you have the service items to send the cost to, you are stuck with the same old general allocation methods.
Our solution consists of a software tool, consulting services and a documented update process that will enable you to craft your own service items and insert them into selected patient records. The service items will be distinct from charge codes and will enable you to allocate cost precisely to the patients you specify.
It's the perfect 2010 costing upgrade for every hospital with overhead in program, service line or academic costs.

Sept 9 - 12 ,2009
Yardley presented at two sessions, a 1/2 day pre-conference workshop on Sept 9:
103: Advanced HPM/HBI Applications: Casey and Roger
The speakers will share their favorite techniques for getting the most from HPM applications, including cost accounting, data extensibility and encounter analysis. Actual customer examples will be used, including step-by-step instructions. The class will also cover use of HBI and HBI SQL Server applications to complement use of HPM.
The second presentation was on Saturday Sept 12:
4909: HPM Helps Assess Chronic Care Strategies: Roger and Ylone Xavier of St. Barnabas Health System
For uninsured patients, the emergency room is the healthcare safety net. While the ER is great at rescue, it is not the optimal way to handle people with chronic conditions. With deteriorating economic and employment conditions, the problem will get worse before it gets better. As New Jersey's largest hospital system, St. Barnabas (SBHCS) has a vital interest for its patients and its economic sustainability to understand the extent of the problem and consider solutions.
SBHCS uses HPM's cross-encounter analysis capabilities to evaluate patients with chronic diseases use of the emergency department, combining this information with economic and clinical outcomes information. Evaluation of several high profile chronic conditions enables SBHCS to consider the paybacks associated with efforts to direct these patient to more appropriate treatment strategies.
